Lots of trendy eateries in Lahaina. We are finding new places to enjoy the local cuisine each day. Our Maui days typically start with an early surf and hanging out at a beach park. We then have a delicious lunch and head home for a bit a deck chair sleeping by the pool. Around sunset we sit on our lanai (balcony) and start our drinks and nibbles. There are still a few brave surfers out in front for us to watch. We have been eating in most nights … too drunk to drive. Fall into bed and repeat each day. This island is truly paradise and a great place for a relaxing holiday.
Maui
We have been here for a few days now. Things have been quite busy with the Thanksgiving Holidays in full swing. The main feature has been the strong winds. I had a couple of good surfs in the Lahaina area which is a bit protected from the gales.
We went up to Honolua Bay last week and saw some giant waves being surfed by a few brave surfers. The final leg of the women’s CT is starting there this week so the girls should have a bit of fun.
Our condo gives us magnificent ocean views there is quite good surf right out the front. Kev and I had a session out there yesterday arvo and we had a ball.
Beautiful Kauai
We leave this special island tomorrow and travel to Maui. This is our third time here and we loved every minute … as usual. The lush tropical green countryside, the spectacular coast and canyon, the beaches, the surf, the accommodation the music, the food and the people. We even had a dove nesting right beside our balcony and witnessed the chics learning to fly. This has been a perfect holiday so far and we are now looking forward to Maui.
Hanalei Bay
The past two days we have driven north to Hanalei Bay. We got quite a shock to see how much beach erosion has occurred with recent big seas and river floods. We have just parked on the beach in previous trips but there is no way to do it now. The surf has been great. Today was little scary with overhead sets and very gloomy weather. Forecast double overhead tomorrow so it should get interesting. Had lunch at the Shrimp Station on the way home today. Just chilling in the resort tonight after way too many mai tais last night.
Waimea Canyon and Napali Coast
Back in Paradise. Accommodation at the Kauai Shores Hotel – great food, perfect location, ukuleles etc. Road trip in our Jeep to Waimea Canyon and Napali Coast. Words can’t describe the spectacular scenery. Amazing day and looking forward to first day of surfing at Hanalei Bay tomorrow.
